Tattoo Removal Methods
1 – Laser tattoo removal
The use of laser is one of the best ways to remove tattoos without causing scarring, and began work more than 20 years ago.

The laser breaks the pigment molecules inside the skin into smaller molecules, making it easier for the white blood cells known as Macrophage to devour these molecules, thus removing them from the skin and passing them through blood vessels. The body stores them in the lymph nodes or exits them.

The patient usually needs more than one treatment session, and each session takes between 10-30 minutes depending on the color, type and area of tattooing.

It is recommended that the patient remove any hair on the tattoo before starting the procedure, during the session the doctor gives special glasses to the patient to avoid damage to the eye.
The patient may feel pain similar to the pain of beating the skin with a rubber band, so the doctor puts a local anesthetic on the place of the tattoo before starting treatment.

After the treatment session, the doctor will put a cream containing pine extract and cover the tattoo with a bandage before the patient leaves the clinic.

There are many types of laser used, and the type of laser used varies with the color of the tattoo. Examples of these types:

Q-switched laser
It is one of the first types of tattoo removal. It gives great light energy over a very short period of time (one nanosecond), making the energy emitted by it very intense enough to break up pigment molecules into the skin. This type is very effective with black and red, as well as dark blue near to black, but it is less effective with yellow, green and light blue. The patient may need several sessions of treatment ranging from 5 to 15 sessions or more.

Picosecond laser
It is one of the modern types that began to be used in 2013. This laser gives a very large amount of light energy over a shorter period of time than the previous one (one trillionth of a second), making it more efficient. It uses many colors, especially green. To several treatment sessions also, ranging between a session and a period of 2-4 months.

2 – remove the tattoo using creams and ointments
There are many ointments and creams used to remove tattoos, but these ointments and creams contain skin-damaging acids, and none of these substances have been licensed by the US Food and Drug Administration.

3 – Removal of the tattoo using sandpaper
Is the process of removing the layers of the skin by scratching the skin or peeling, and often cause this method is scarring is not recommended currently.

4 – remove the tattoo through surgery
By removing the skin that contains the tattoo and re-sews the two ends of the skin again, or the removal of the skin containing the tattoo and the implantation of skin taste with the sewing ends of the taste. This method leaves undesirable scarring in the skin, so this method is used only when there is a tattoo that can not be treated by laser (does not respond to laser treatment)
